Dublin firefighter Terence Crosbie sentenced to 7–9 years for rape in Boston during St. Patrick’s Day 2024.
Terence Crosbie, a 39-year-old Dublin firefighter, was sentenced to 7 to 9 years in prison for raping a woman in a Boston hotel during St. Patrick’s Day weekend in March 2024.
The jury convicted him after a trial where the victim testified about lasting trauma, including panic attacks and sleeplessness.
Though a 2017 tweet referencing Stockholm as a “rape capital” was excluded from jury consideration, it influenced Judge Joshua Wall’s sentencing decision, which he called “extraordinary sexual violence.” Crosbie, arrested at Logan Airport, admitted guilt during sentencing and apologized, citing his family and firefighting career.
The defense argued for a shorter sentence due to his foreign status and time served, while prosecutors sought 9–12 years.
The case highlighted cross-border legal challenges and the long-term impact of sexual assault.
