Congress leader demands RSS ban, citing historical and educational controversies.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called for banning the RSS, stating in a New Delhi press conference that the organization contributes to India’s law and order issues and criticizing the BJP-RSS alliance.
He cited historical claims, including Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s alleged 1948 call to ban the RSS after Gandhi’s assassination, and accused the government of reversing a 2024 policy allowing government employees to join the RSS.
Kharge also criticized efforts to remove references to Gandhi, Nathuram Godse, the RSS, and the 2002 Gujarat riots from NCERT textbooks, calling it historical revisionism.
He defended Patel’s close relationship with Nehru, countering claims of rivalry.
