Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong, 26, indicted on fraud, theft, and bribery charges tied to misuse of public funds and a prior drug probe.
Bogalusa Mayor Tyrin Truong, 26, has been indicted on one count of malfeasance in office, one count of theft between $5,000 and $25,000, and two counts of public intimidation. The Washington Parish grand jury indictment, filed October 30, alleges he used public funds for his mother’s home repairs, improperly reimbursed himself $4,650.14, and attempted to solicit a bribe. It also links him to an Atlanta Airbnb rental tied to a prior drug and prostitution investigation. Former public works director James Patterson, who pleaded guilty to malfeasance, cooperated with prosecutors. Truong, who was arrested in January in a broader drug and prostitution probe, denies all charges, calling the prosecution racially and politically motivated. His attorney maintains his innocence, and Truong is scheduled for arraignment on November 10. The case involves federal, state, and local agencies.
