South Korea’s court upholds NewJeans’ contracts with ADOR, blocking their independence and ordering legal fees.
On October 30, 2025, South Korea’s Seoul Central District Court ruled that NewJeans’ exclusive contracts with their agency ADOR remain valid, rejecting the group’s attempt to terminate the agreements.
The court found no legal basis to nullify the contracts despite the dismissal of former CEO Min Hee-jin and stated that ADOR had not violated the terms.
The ruling ordered NewJeans to cover legal costs and upheld an injunction preventing the members from engaging in independent activities, with penalties of 1 billion won per violation.
The group plans to appeal, citing a breakdown in trust, while ADOR maintains control over the members until 2029.
