Proton launches Malaysia’s cheapest EV, the eMas 5, from RM56,800, with two trims offering up to 325 km range and fast charging.
Proton has launched the eMas 5 in Malaysia, the country’s cheapest electric vehicle, with two variants: the Prime starting at RM56,800 (RM59,800 post-rebate) and the Premium at RM69,800 (RM72,800 post-rebate), both on-road and excluding insurance.
The Prime offers a 225 km WLTP range with a 30.12 kWh battery and 79 PS motor, while the Premium delivers 325 km range with a 40.16 kWh battery and 116 PS motor.
Both support fast charging, reaching 30-80% in 21 minutes, and include 6.6 kW AC charging.
The Premium includes advanced features like a 360-degree camera, ADAS, LED lighting, and a powered tailgate.
Both models have a 14.6-inch infotainment screen, vehicle-to-load capability, and a 6-year unlimited mileage warranty.
The eMas 5 is initially imported from China, with local CKD assembly planned.
