NSW farmers oppose EnergyCo’s transmission corridor plan over land and consultation concerns.
Landholders in NSW’s Upper Hunter region are opposing EnergyCo’s updated plan for a 140-meter-wide transmission corridor linking the New England Renewable Energy Zone to the grid, citing insufficient consultation and fears of lasting damage to agricultural land.
The project, aimed at delivering clean energy, has prompted formation of the Upper Hunter Responsible Infrastructure Group, with farmers like Myree Russell warning of threats to farming heritage and food security.
A town hall meeting is set for November 5, 2025, and an environmental impact statement is expected in mid-2026.
