The sixth-generation Honda Prelude, revived after a 24-year hiatus, is gaining strong interest in Japan, primarily among Gen X buyers and their children, driven by nostalgia and shared memories. Launched at 6,179,800 yen (~A$61,520), it's positioned as a premium sports coupe above models like the GR86 and BRZ, with a higher price than the Civic Type R. The hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0L engine and electric motor, delivering 147kW and 315Nm via an e-CVT, with a claimed 23.6km/L fuel efficiency and 0-100km/h time of 8.3 seconds—though overseas tests report faster results. It uses the Civic Type R’s chassis for agile handling and features an S+ Shift mode. The Prelude is confirmed for an Australian launch in mid-2026, likely as a single variant.
