Four arrested in Belfast after racist assault on tourists; police call it a hate crime.
Four people were arrested in Belfast after a racially motivated assault on two tourists on Royal Avenue Tuesday night, October 28, 2025.
The victims, who were punched and kicked repeatedly and subjected to racist abuse, were attacked around 11 p.m. Police responded quickly due to enhanced patrols and CCTV monitoring, leading to the arrest of two men, aged 28 and 34, and two women, aged 22 and 38, on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and assault.
Belfast Area Commander Chief Superintendent Jeremy Lindsay called the attack “shameful,” confirmed the victims sustained non-serious injuries, and reaffirmed police commitment to public safety through community collaboration and targeted patrols.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident as a hate crime and urge witnesses to come forward.
