Canada allocates $19M to carbon capture, battery materials, and climate tech ahead of G7.
Federal Energy Minister Tim Hodgson announced $11 million for carbon capture projects in Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador, and a $5 million grant to a battery materials company expanding in Quebec and British Columbia, ahead of the G7 ministerial meetings in Toronto.
Speaking at the IEA Energy Innovation Forum, he stressed securing critical mineral supply chains with allied nations.
Canada also advanced climate cooperation efforts, including a 10-year Microsoft deal for Arca to remove 300,000 tonnes of CO2, and a $3.4 million NorthX investment in four Canadian carbon removal ventures.
