flag Assam will redirect GST from 'Roi Roi Binale' to Zubeen Garg’s foundation, honoring his legacy.

The Assam government will transfer its share of Goods and Services Tax collected from the release of the film 'Roi Roi Binale,' honoring late singer Zubeen Garg, to the Kalaguru Artist Foundation he founded. The move, announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, redirects 9% of GST on tickets over Rs 100 and 2.5% on those under Rs 100 to support artists, flood victims, and students. The film, set for release on October 31, features nearly 80-90% of Garg’s original voice recordings and marks the first musical Assamese film of its kind. Garg, who died in Singapore on September 19, 2025, played the lead role in the project, which was completed after three years of work.
