Zerodha's CEO revealed he delayed stroke treatment, urging quick action within the critical window to prevent lasting damage.
Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath revealed on World Stroke Day, October 29, 2025, that he suffered a stroke in January and delayed seeking treatment, initially thinking rest would suffice—a decision he now regrets.
He urged the public to act immediately within the critical “golden hour” (4.5 hours) after symptoms begin, stressing that prompt care can prevent permanent brain damage.
Kamath highlighted a rising trend of strokes in younger adults, with nearly 30% now occurring in people aged 30 to 50, linked to lifestyle factors like hypertension, diabetes, stress, and sedentary habits.
He emphasized that timely treatment—clot-busting drugs within 4.5 hours or mechanical thrombectomy up to six hours—can save brain tissue and improve recovery, reinforcing the message “every minute counts.”
