UK to review compensation for women affected by 2011 pension age change after ombudsman report.
The UK's Department for Work and Pensions is reviewing potential compensation for WASPI women—those born in the 1950s affected by the 2011 pension age change—after a parliamentary debate and a letter from MP Iqbal Mohamed.
Though the government previously ruled out payouts, a 2023 ombudsman report found the DWP failed to properly inform women, recommending up to £2,950 in compensation.
Pensions minister Torsten Bell said he would review the concerns raised, while a judicial review is set for December.
Despite ongoing pressure from multiple parties and campaigners, the DWP has not committed to a formal plan, leaving the issue unresolved.
