In Q2 2025, major investors boosted stakes in gold-backed SPDR fund GLD, reflecting growing interest in gold as a safe-haven asset.
In the second quarter of 2025, several institutional investors increased their stakes in SPDR Gold Shares (GLD), including Purkiss Capital Advisors LLC, which raised its holdings by 9.9% to 7,260 shares, and Commonwealth Equity Services LLC, which added 161,638 shares.
Redwood Park Advisors LLC also acquired 284 shares, bringing its total to 31,220.
GWN Securities Inc. reduced its position, selling 30,664 shares and holding 6,408 at quarter-end.
GLD, which tracks gold bullion prices, had a market cap of $134.91 billion and traded at $367.01 on October 28, with a 52-week range of $236.13 to $403.30.
Institutional ownership stood at 42.19%, and the fund’s low beta of 0.09 indicated minimal volatility.
