Pingree Detroit, a worker-owned firm, opens Nov. 11 in downtown Detroit, showcasing upcycled auto-material goods and supporting local jobs.
Pingree Detroit, a worker-owned company founded in 2015, is opening its first retail store on November 11 at 22 W. Columbia St. in downtown Detroit.
The store, in the former Good Cakes and Bakes space, will showcase shoes, bags, and accessories made from upcycled auto materials like leather and seat belts, diverting over 55,000 pounds of waste from landfills.
It will serve as a showroom, workshop, and event space, hosting “Footwear Fridays” and a pop-up at Little Caesars Arena on November 10 featuring limited-edition Red Wings merchandise.
The company, which supports veterans and Detroit residents, reinvests 77% of profits locally.
