New Zealand approved a $160M hotel deal and a 1GW renewable project during PM Luxon’s Malaysia visit, boosting ties and trade.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon announced two major investments during his visit to Malaysia: a 1GW renewable energy project by Malaysian firm Yinson Renewables and a $160 million acquisition of Auckland’s Hotel Indigo by YTL Hotels, marking its first New Zealand hotel investment.
Both deals were approved by New Zealand’s Overseas Investment Office.
Luxon highlighted the investments as evidence of global confidence in New Zealand’s economy and openness to business.
The visit also led to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN and a halal trade agreement with Malaysia to boost exports.
Luxon is now attending the APEC summit in South Korea.
