A Michigan nanny charged with murdering an elderly man while babysitting his toddler granddaughter.
A 35-year-old nanny, Samantha Rae Booth, has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 83-year-old David Ong in Royal Oak, Michigan, while babysitting his 2-year-old granddaughter.
The attack occurred on October 24, 2025, after Ong’s daughter, unable to reach Booth, asked her father to check on the child.
Authorities say Ong was found with stab wounds in the basement, where he had been attacked while the child was present, leading to a second-degree child abuse charge.
Booth allegedly attacked the child’s uncle with a screwdriver during a rescue attempt, fled the scene partially undressed, and was later apprehended with blood on her hands.
Police found suspected psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana in her purse, though their role in the incident is unclear.
Booth, who has no criminal history, was denied bond and faces life in prison without parole if convicted.
Her next court date is November 7.
