MacKenzie Scott donated $60 million to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, the largest single gift in its history, to boost disaster preparedness and recovery amid rising climate-related disasters.
Billionaire philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has donated $60 million to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, the largest single gift in the nonprofit’s history and one of her largest donations to date.
The unrestricted grant will strengthen disaster preparedness, address root causes of vulnerability to climate and other crises, and support long-term recovery efforts.
The donation comes amid a surge in U.S. climate-related disasters, with at least 14 billion-dollar events in 2025 causing $101.4 billion in damages, and growing uncertainty over federal disaster aid under President Donald Trump.
Scott, who has given over $19 billion since 2019, continues her pledge to donate half her fortune through surprise, unrestricted grants.
MacKenzie Scott donó 60 millones de dólares al Centro para la Filantropía de Desastres, la donación individual más grande en su historia, para impulsar la preparación para desastres y la recuperación en medio del aumento de desastres relacionados con el clima.
