India to launch caller ID feature on 4G/5G networks Nov. 1, 2025, to combat spam and scams.
Starting November 1, 2025, India will roll out the Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) service on 4G and 5G networks, displaying verified caller names by default for incoming calls using KYC data.
Users can opt out, but the feature will not be available on older 2G networks due to technical limitations.
The move, backed by TRAI and the DoT, aims to reduce spam, fraud, and scams by improving caller transparency.
A nationwide rollout is planned, with device compatibility requirements set for six months post-launch.
