India exports its first GI-tagged limes to the UK, boosting farmer income and trade talks.
India has shipped its first-ever air cargo of GI-tagged limes—Indi Lime from Karnataka and Puliyankudi Lime from Tamil Nadu—to the UK, marking a key step in expanding premium agricultural exports.
The move, facilitated by APEDA, follows earlier shipments of GI-tagged limes to the UAE and Gharwali apples and apricots to Gulf nations.
Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal praised the exports as a boost for farmers and highlighted progress on India-EU FTA talks during his Brussels visit, where he met with EU Commissioner Maros Sefcovic.
