India approves ₹37,952 crore fertilizer subsidy for 2025-26 Rabi season to ease farmer costs.
The Indian government has approved a ₹37,952 crore nutrient-based subsidy for phosphatic and potassic fertilizers for the 2025-26 Rabi season, effective October 1, to help farmers manage rising input costs.
Subsidy rates were set at ₹47.96 per kg for phosphorus and ₹2.87 per kg for sulphur, with nitrogen and potash rates unchanged.
The move supports affordability of key fertilizers like DAP and NPKS, aiding crops such as wheat and mustard.
The budget is about ₹736 crore higher than the Kharif 2025 season and a significant increase from the previous Rabi season.
