Australis Scientific won $175,000 for its non-invasive smart patch treating incontinence, now in human trials.
Australis Scientific, a Sydney-based medical tech company, won the MedTech Innovator Asia Pacific Grand Prize for its ConfidanzTM smart patch, a wearable device using tibial nerve stimulation to treat overactive bladder and incontinence.
The patch, worn near the ankle, offers a non-invasive, at-home therapy option.
The company, led by Harvard Medical School Fellow Nick Agahari, received $175,000 in funding and recognition.
It is currently testing the device in the SPARC Study, a first-in-human trial in Sydney and Brisbane, to support regulatory submissions in Australia, the U.S., and Japan.
The award comes from a global competition with over 300 entries from 25 countries.
