Year 12 students in Queensland were mistakenly taught Augustus instead of Julius Caesar before their crucial Ancient History exam.
Queensland’s education department confirmed that Year 12 Ancient History students at Brisbane State High School were mistakenly taught about Augustus instead of Julius Caesar, the correct exam topic, just days before their 2025 external exam.
The error, acknowledged by both the school and the Department of Education, has prompted an Illness and Misadventure application for all affected students to ensure fairness in results.
The school is providing emergency support, including study sessions and updated resources, while the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority confirmed it will apply enhanced quality assurance during marking.
Students have completed 75% of their assessments, and the exam, worth 25% of their final grade, is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
