Ten people, including a self-described medium and an advertising executive, are on trial in Paris for allegedly spreading false and malicious online claims about French First Lady Brigitte Macron, including baseless conspiracy theories that she is transgender and was born a man.
The defendants, aged 41 to 60, are accused of cyberbullying her over her gender, sexuality, and age gap with President Emmanuel Macron, which prosecutors say caused significant harm.
The trial, beginning October 27, 2025, follows a 2024 ruling in Macron’s favor that was overturned on appeal.
The Macrons have also filed a defamation lawsuit in Delaware against U.S. influencer Candace Owens, who promoted similar claims.
