A stolen BMW driven at 100mph crashed into Highcliffe Care Home in Sunderland on July 10, causing catastrophic damage, injuring multiple elderly residents—including a 94-year-old woman with spinal fractures—and resulting in two deaths.
The car was stolen by Sam Asgari-Tabar, 21, and Reece Parish, 21, after they confronted a woman selling it on Facebook, briefly detaining her before fleeing.
Police pursued them at high speed through residential streets.
Asgari-Tabar, already on a suspended sentence and banned from driving, admitted to dangerous driving and robbery, while Parish admitted to robbery and violent disorder.
The care home, serving dementia patients, sustained £260,000 in damage and lost £411,000 in operations.
Both men will be sentenced on November 11.
