Joshua Edmund Murphy, a 35-year-old Prince George’s County firefighter and newly promoted lieutenant, has been charged with 16 counts related to possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material. Authorities traced an upload of CSAM on the Kik messaging app to the Chillum Fire Station’s Wi-Fi network and a phone belonging to Murphy, who admitted to having additional illicit images on his device, including one depicting his 7-year-old daughter. He was arrested on October 24, 2025, and held without bond, with a judge ruling he poses a danger to the community. The investigation, led by the Prince George’s County Police Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, remains ongoing. Murphy is on administrative leave.
