Nokia and Germany’s E.ON have launched a five-year strategic partnership to modernize E.ON’s telecommunications infrastructure across Germany, aiming to cut energy use by up to 50% through next-generation IP, optical, and fixed access networks. The upgrade, using Nokia’s end-to-end solutions including XGS-PON and network automation, enhances scalability, security, and resilience to KRITIS standards, supporting faster response to disruptions. The project strengthens E.ON’s role in Germany’s energy transition, with plans to expand the model to other European affiliates and enable future technologies like quantum-safe networking.
