Robert Owens, 40, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and possessing a firearm as a felon after allegedly shooting 31-year-old Donovan Wilson in the upper body during a dispute at CJ’s Convenience Store.
Wilson was taken to Mission Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury; a passenger was unharmed.
Owens fled in a 2007 burgundy Chevrolet Trailblazer but was apprehended in Burke County.
He was denied bond and held at McDowell County Jail.
Authorities continue investigating the incident.
