A 34-year-old Indianapolis man, Edwin O. Pacheco-Meza, has been charged with reckless homicide and two counts of aggravated driving under the influence following a fatal head-on crash in Westfield, Illinois, on October 24, 2025.
The collision, which occurred around 7 p.m. on West Lincoln Street, involved Pacheco-Meza’s van crossing the center line and striking a Ford F-150 truck.
Two passengers in the truck—Michael Clayton, 71, and Gail Clayton, 66, both of Charleston—were pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other occupants, a 72-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman from Charleston, were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Pacheco-Meza, who was driving without a valid license and without insurance, was arrested, treated for minor injuries, and remains in custody.
The Clark County State’s Attorney’s Office filed the charges on October 27, and the investigation is ongoing.
