Kisumu, Kenya, partners with China’s Yiyang Yinxiang to develop affordable housing, solar energy, and waste management, while launching a climate-resilient agriculture project.
Kisumu County, Kenya, has signed a cooperation agreement with China’s Yiyang Yinxiang Trading Company to advance infrastructure in affordable housing, solar energy, waste recycling, sewer treatment, and security surveillance.
The deal, signed by Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o and company official Liu Chu Yi, aims to boost sustainable urban development through public-private collaboration, with implementation plans underway.
Separately, Kisumu launched the TUNZA GCF Project to restore degraded farmland, focusing on climate-resilient agriculture, food security, and environmental conservation in value chains like dairy, fruit trees, and African leafy vegetables, with support from national agencies and a goal to create a replicable model for other counties.
