Kenya’s Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has recovered 7.11 hectares of land illegally taken from Karura Forest and the Kenya Technical Training College, following a court ruling that declared leases to former official John Kamotho’s company, Gigiri Court Limited, null and void. The Environment and Land Court found the 1990s land allocations unlawful, fraudulent, and in violation of the Forest Act and Government Lands Act, citing lack of proper legal process and unauthorized consolidation. The ruling mandates the land’s return to public ownership, restoration by the Kenya Forest Service, and cancellation of all related titles and leases.
