The Gruffalo tops UK bedtime stories; Guide Dogs expands free large-print books for visually impaired parents.
The Gruffalo is Britain’s top bedtime story, followed by The Tiger Who Came to Tea, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and Paddington Bear, according to a Guide Dogs poll.
The study found that 25% of parents read to their children nightly, with 97% of adults saying storytime strengthens family bonds and 88% calling it their day’s highlight.
However, 43% of adults with vision impairments reported feeling excluded from sharing stories, often relying on audiobooks or others to read.
In response, Guide Dogs expanded its CustomEyes Books service to offer free, customizable large print editions with adjustable font, size, spacing, and colour for members, helping adults with sight loss participate fully in bedtime reading.
El Gruffalo encabeza las historias de la hora de acostarse del Reino Unido; Guide Dogs amplía los libros gratuitos en letra grande para padres con discapacidad visual.
