Sri Lanka police have arrested three people, including a woman, in connection with the October 22 assassination of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekera, who was shot dead in his office.
A fourth suspect remains at large after escaping during a raid in Kekirawa, where authorities seized a motorcycle, over $5,000 in cash, and large quantities of heroin and methamphetamine.
CCTV footage shows the gunman, wearing a white shirt and black mask, entering the office and fleeing on a motorcycle with an accomplice.
The victim, who had previously requested protection, died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The incident is part of a broader rise in political violence, with 51 deaths in 100 shooting incidents this year.
Authorities are urging the public to help locate the fugitive suspect.
