A South Carolina house fire killed four, including two children, likely sparked by a kerosene heater.
A house fire in Gaffney, South Carolina, early Sunday morning killed four people, including two children, at a one-story home on East Third Street.
The blaze, reported at 1:40 a.m., was captured on a doorbell camera showing the home fully engulfed.
One survivor, Kathy Shippy, escaped and alerted neighbors.
The victims—Willie Morris, 38, Dakeyia Shippy, 25, Mason Issac, 4, and Jerekry McGill, 7 months—were found on the kitchen floor near a window, apparently trying to escape.
The Cherokee County Coroner said the fire likely started when Morris attempted to refuel a kerosene heater inside the home.
Autopsies are pending, and the incident is under investigation by local and state agencies.
