Microsoft is facing Australian legal action over allegations it misled about 2.7 million customers about pricing changes to its Microsoft 365 service, which now includes the AI assistant Copilot.
The ACCC claims the company’s renewal emails implied users had to pay more or cancel, without clearly stating they could keep their existing plan—without Copilot—at the original price.

If found guilty, Microsoft could face penalties up to $50 million or 30% of its adjusted turnover.
Microsoft says it values transparency and is reviewing the allegations.
