A 21-year-old man was charged after threatening to blow up a St. Louis library, dousing a guard with lighter fluid and resisting arrest.
A 21-year-old man, Elhadj Mbemjue, was charged with first-degree terrorist threat, resisting arrest, and two counts of assault after allegedly dousing a St. Louis Public Library security guard with lighter fluid and threatening to blow up the building.
The incident occurred on October 24 at the Olive Street library, where Mbemjue refused to leave, poured flammable liquid on the guard, and flicked a lit cigarette toward him.
Police arrived, and Mbemjue made threats, including claiming he intended to detonate the building and that the guard was lucky to be alive.
He resisted arrest, spat at an officer, and was booked into jail without bond.
Court records show he had been recently released after a prior assault charge and a five-day jail sentence on October 16.
The case remains ongoing.
