Over 300 Cambridgeshire businesses have joined the Businesses Against Abuse initiative, launched in October 2024 to combat violence against women and girls.
Backed by Police and Crime Commissioner Darryl Preston, the program offers free training to over 3,000 staff in retail, transport, and night-time economy sectors, helping them identify predatory behavior and create safer spaces.
Early results include multiple arrests following interventions by bus drivers.
The initiative, developed with local partners, will expand in 2025/26 with 15 new sessions targeting up to 750 more people across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and Fenland.
