A recent Public Religion Research Institute poll found only 16% of Black Americans and 30% of Latinos hold favorable views of President Trump, despite his 2024 election gains among minority voters—winning about 15% of Black voters and 42% to 48% of Latino voters, largely driven by younger men in states like Texas and Florida.
The survey of 5,543 adults found 56% believe Trump is a dangerous dictator whose power should be limited, up from 52% in March, while 41% see him as a strong leader who should restore America’s greatness.
Majorities across parties believe the country is headed in the wrong direction economically, in government, foreign relations, and immigration, with confidence in institutions varying—high for the military, police, and colleges, but lower for the Supreme Court, federal government, news media, and corporations.
