Namibia’s president took direct control of the energy ministry to boost oil production efforts by 2030.
Namibia’s President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has taken direct control of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy, replacing Deputy Prime Minister Natangwe Ithete, who was removed without explanation.
The change, effective immediately, aims to ensure continuity and better coordination in a key sector as Namibia advances its goal of achieving crude oil production by 2030.
Ithete, a long-time SWAPO party member, remains in parliament.
The presidency cited constitutional authority and emphasized the move supports national development and governance.
