A man was charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a woman to death in Broome, Western Australia, in a family violence-related incident.
A 56-year-old man has been charged with murder in Broome, Western Australia, after allegedly stabbing a 58-year-old woman multiple times at a home on Frederick Street on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Police say a verbal argument preceded the attack, which occurred minutes before emergency services arrived.
The woman died from her injuries on Saturday, October 25.
The suspect, known to her, was arrested at the scene and his charge was upgraded to murder.
He is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court on October 26, 2025.
Authorities believe the incident is related to family violence.
The Kimberley region has one of Australia’s highest family violence rates, with 4,544 assaults reported in the past year and a rate of 11,378.8 per 100,000 people.
This case is the fifth alleged family violence-related homicide in the region this financial year.
