A historic barn linked to Ojibway elder Eddie Barbeau has been moved to Montana’s Summer Star Ranch after nearly 20 years of effort.
A nearly 100-year-old barn tied to Ojibway elder Eddie Barbeau, who helped unite Helena’s Native American community and trained sled dogs during WWII, has been relocated to Summer Star Ranch in Montana.
After nearly two decades of effort, including multiple moves and surviving a fire, Matthew and Starr Daw preserved the structure’s original red color and historic details.
The barn will be restored and dedicated to Barbeau’s legacy, serving as a tribute to Montana’s heritage while eventually housing horses and hosting events.
