EU and New Zealand officials have agreed to boost trade and cut costs through their first joint trade committee meeting, signing a declaration to reduce non-tariff barriers and support fair market access.
Two-way trade hit NZ$21.58 billion by June 2025, up $2 billion since their free trade agreement took effect.
They discussed compliance with the EU’s Deforestation Regulation starting January 2026, with a six-month exemption, and pledged to ease regulatory burdens.
A follow-up meeting is planned during November’s CPTPP and EU dialogue.
