Australia revoked Kanye West’s visa days after he released an anti-Semitic song with Hitler samples, citing extremism and hatred.
Australia began reviewing Kanye West’s visa within hours of his May 8, 2024, release of the anti-Semitic song “Heil Hitler,” which sampled Adolf Hitler and was quickly removed from platforms.
The Department of Home Affairs cited his “extreme views” and risk of inciting hatred, particularly against the Jewish community, leading to the visa cancellation on May 28.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke confirmed the decision in July, stating the song’s promotion of Nazism violated Australian values and immigration laws.
West, now known as Ye, later claimed he was “done with anti-Semitism” and released a revised version titled “Hallelujah.” The documents, obtained via Freedom of Information, show a swift government response to the controversial content.
