A 13-year-old student in Plantation, Florida, was arrested on October 24, 2025, after allegedly making electronic threats of a school shooting on social media at Renaissance Charter School.
Parents reported the posts, prompting a police response that led to the teen’s arrest and charges for written or electronic threats to kill and disruption of school function.
The student was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
Authorities stressed that such threats are taken seriously, carry felony penalties, and can result in up to three years in a secure facility, urging parents to discuss the consequences of online threats involving weapons.
