A 100-year-old D-Day veteran honored as Dudley Borough’s Freeman for his WWII service and legacy.
Joe Bullock, a 100-year-old D-Day veteran who served in the Royal Navy from 1942 to 1946, was named Freeman of the Dudley Borough on October 23, 2025, in a ceremony at Himley Hall.
He participated in the Normandy landings and later served in Singapore, earning France’s Legion d’Honneur in 2015.
Presenting the honor, Dudley Mayor Councillor Pete Lee praised Bullock’s service and dedication, noting he is one of the borough’s oldest military veterans.
Bullock, who lives in Stourbridge and leads the local Royal Naval Association branch, expressed deep gratitude for the recognition.
The event included local officials, military representatives, and family members.
