Vietnam appoints first female deputy PM and three new ministers ahead of 2026 party congress.
Vietnam’s National Assembly confirmed the appointments of Pham Thi Thanh Tra and Ho Quoc Dung as deputy prime ministers, along with three new ministers, during its 10th session on October 25, 2025.
Tra, the first woman to hold the deputy prime minister role, previously served as Minister of Home Affairs.
Dung, a former party chief in Gia Lai province, was also appointed.
The new ministers include Tran Duc Thang (Agriculture and Environment), Le Hoai Trung (Foreign Affairs), and Do Thanh Binh (Home Affairs).
The changes, part of a leadership reshuffle, come ahead of the Communist Party’s five-yearly congress in January 2026.
