The incident, reported around 11 a.m. near Khajrana Road, prompted immediate police action, leading to the arrest of suspect Aqeel Khan within 24 hours using CCTV, eyewitness accounts, and a bystander’s recorded license plate.
Khan, with prior criminal cases, was charged under Sections 74 and 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal force and stalking.
Cricket Australia confirmed the report and stated the team is cooperating with authorities, with players receiving support.
The Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association and state officials condemned the act, and the Australian team received enhanced security ahead of their match against South Africa.
