A plan to turn Harvington House into housing for eight hotel workers in Keswick is set for approval on Nov. 5, despite local opposition.
A proposal to convert Harvington House in Keswick into shared housing for up to eight hotel staff is set for approval by the Lake District National Park Authority on November 5.
Submitted by Mawdsley Bleacher Ltd, the plan aims to address local staffing shortages.
Though opposed by Keswick Town Council and three residents over concerns about noise, antisocial behavior, and tourism, the LDNPA’s development team recommends approval, noting the property’s existing use and no structural changes, which would not increase noise, parking, or flood risks.
The HMO, intended for local workers, differs from short-term holiday lets and requires a license from Cumberland Council but cannot be used for tourism.
The final decision rests with the LDNPA’s Development Control Committee.
