North Carolina lawmakers honored for public safety bills; federal robocall bill advances.
North Carolina State Senator Danny Britt (R-Dist.
24) was honored by the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association as a 2025 Defender of Public Safety for advancing legislation on fentanyl penalties, firearm restrictions for felons, and law enforcement retirement protections.
N.C. Representative Brenden Jones (R-Dist.
46) also received recognition.
On the federal level, the bipartisan Foreign Robocall Elimination Act, co-sponsored by Senators Ted Budd (R-N.C.) and Peter Welch (D-Vt.), passed the Senate Commerce Committee, creating an interagency task force to combat illegal foreign robocalls and improve prosecution efforts.
The bill now heads to the full Senate.
