Johnson & Johnson appeals a €944,000 Irish court award to Mark Keane for workplace injuries, disputing the link between his shoulder pain and the 2018 incident.
Johnson & Johnson is appealing a €944,000 Irish High Court compensation award to former Limerick hurler Mark Keane, injured in a 2018 workplace incident at its Limerick plant while rescuing a colleague.
The court ruled the accident caused lasting hand, arm, and shoulder injuries, linking the shoulder damage to the incident despite the company admitting fault only for the hand injury.
Johnson & Johnson argues the judge erred in finding a causal link, citing a six-year delay in reporting shoulder pain, inconsistent testimony about physical activity, and an excessive award.
Keane’s legal team maintains the ruling was supported by medical evidence, including an MRI, and that the judge’s findings were credible and not subject to reversal.
The appeal is ongoing.
