Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Longewala battlefield in Rajasthan on October 24, 2025, during the Thar Shakti Exercise, meeting soldiers of the newly formed Bhairav Battalion, set for deployment on November 1.
The battalion, trained for high-intensity combat, is part of a plan to raise 25 specialized units of 250 personnel each from various arms to bridge the gap between regular infantry and special forces.
Singh reviewed training, witnessed an integrated combat demonstration featuring advanced equipment like Arjun MK-1 and T-90S tanks, Sterla-10M SAM systems, drones, and armored vehicles, and assessed readiness in forward areas.
He also participated in the Army Commanders’ Conference in Jaisalmer, emphasizing strategic clarity, ethical discipline, and self-reliance, while hailing Operation Sindoor as a symbol of precision and restraint in countering terrorism.
